Mission Statement -
Objectives

Marie Major: B.A.. soc./ psy, 30 years of experience in andragogy and counseling for the federal government, two (2) years of training at Recovery Inc. which had been in Westmount for 30 years and still remains, 5 years of experience of leading CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) group.

Since I experienced what Dr. O.C. Simonton and H. Benson call a “spontaneous remission” that saved me from surgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute and then, through CBT, discovered I am not helpless to help myself, I feel both very fortunate and qualified to mobilize other’s natural strength to effect their own recovery from anger addiction, panic attacks, anxiety and depression. It also takes less time than traditional “talk therapy”.

The group I lead is active at the Westmount YMCA every week at 7:30pm. For those who have run out of insurance coverage, it is good news! For those who can, we suggest a donation of $10.00 for the evening. An English and French group exists.

I meet each participant before introducing them to the group with the objective of clarifying / articulating both their goals and those of the group. This way, newcomers know what to expect.

If you are a professional and you or one of your colleagues want more information or wish to attend one of our meetings, do not hesitate to contact me. More fliers are available on request.

The method used could help people when their prescribed therapy sessions end. Our sessions also serve those who can not afford individual therapy and is compatible with other forms of therapy.
